My working experience at Taier
During the Christmas holiday of 2023, I decided to work at Taier restaurant to personally experience the stress faced by contemporary working-class people. My motivation stemmed from the "free hug" activity I participated in during the summer of 2023, which made me realize how much stress and loneliness people experience in modern urban life. To investigate the psychological factors behind people’s varying lifestyle choices, I began an internship at Taier.
During my one-week stint, I engaged in numerous conversations with my co-workers, who are mostly males aged 16 to 22, and gained valuable insights into their perspectives on job satisfaction, sources of stress, and views on living an intense city life.

My inspiration:
Working at the Taier Seafood chain restaurant was an enriching experience for me. I learned how to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of customer service. The team was supportive; I met many friends who were very friendly, and the management was approachable. This made it a great opportunity to experience firsthand the daily work of Taier employees.
The job involved not only physical tasks like foot chases and standing for long periods but also the constant effort of maintaining a welcoming smile and mopping the floors. Through this experience, I gained a personal understanding of the stress faced by contemporary workers, which is shaped by the rapidly growing urbanization that dominates our society.
